ABOUT JAI LEE
Born into a world of vibrant tents, dazzling lights, and captivating performances, Jai Lee's life was a melodious journey from the very start. Growing up in a circus family, he breathed in the intoxicating blend of acrobatics, laughter, and music.
In his young years his main focus were his circus skills with about 3hrs of acrobatic practice every day. Music was for ‘fun’ on the side. But due to a major injury on his shoulder by the age of 19, he had to let go of his circus ambitions.
Jai set himself quite quickly to music knowing that all he needed to do was apply the same focus he’d done with circus to music.
He picked up the trumpet because his shoulder injury got so bad he couldn’t play piano. He wasn’t capable of stride piano movements but he could hold an accordion, so he started to learn that too. He learned guitar – and also rudiments on sax, flute, trombone, tuba, cella, double as well.
Jai Lee’s genre-defying approach to music shattered boundaries. Swing, jazz, cabaret, and classical-contemporary compositions flowed from his instruments, transcending labels and resonating with a diverse range of listeners.
Jai’s iconic look emerged as an extension of his vibrant surroundings. A hat with feather on his jet-black hair, and his wardrobe is an eclectic blend of vintage attire and contemporary flair. With a rakish grin and an air of mystery, he became a magnetic presence, drawing eyes and ears whenever he enters a room.
In every swing of his trumpet, every cascade of piano keys, Jai Lee waves stories. Stories of his circus upbringing, stories of collaboration, and stories of life's vibrant tapestry. His music is more than entertainment; it is a gateway to emotions, memories, and dreams. Jai Lee’s show is a reminder that art knows no confines, and the heart of a multi-instrumentalist can traverse genres and generations, leaving an indelible mark on the world's melody.
